The 2025 Empty Bowls Project was a resounding success, with local volunteers, artists, and chefs coming together to support those in need in our community. The event not only showcased incredible artistry and culinary talent, but also raised significant funds to support vital local programs aimed at fighting hunger and providing for our neighbors.

This year's Empty Bowls event was nothing short of extraordinary. Over 600 unique, hand-crafted bowls were created in all shapes, sizes, and colors, each symbolizing the community's commitment to helping those in need. The bowls served as a centerpiece for the event, where guests enjoyed delicious soup, bread, and desserts—while also knowing their participation was making a real difference.

More than 60 gallons of soup were expertly prepared by local chefs, providing warm meals for the hundreds in attendance. Guests were also treated to over 400 freshly baked ciabatta, focaccia, and rolls, adding a perfect complement to the soup. To top it off, over 300 buntini desserts were served, ensuring everyone left with a sweet taste of generosity.

One of the most remarkable aspects of this year's event was the generosity of the community, with over $30,000 in net proceeds raised through the sale of bowls, food, and an exciting auction. Each auction item featured a unique hand-painted bowl and accompanying food, making it a truly special experience for bidders.

In total, more than 230 bowls of soup were served to guests, with every bowl purchased contributing to the mission of combating hunger in our local communities. The impact of the event can be measured not just in dollars, but in the number of people it helped and the relationships it strengthened.

Supporting Our Local Schools and Organizations

The funds raised at the Empty Bowls event directly benefited several key local organizations. Beneficiaries included:

    • Fairbanks Schools: Start-up funds were provided for the Panther Market, offering essential food items to students in need.
    • North Union High School: A donation was made to restock the school's food pantry, ensuring students have access to healthy meals.
    • Marysville High School: The Monarch Market received a donation to keep shelves stocked with food for students and families.
    • Bunsold Middle School: The Monarch Food Locker was restocked to support middle school students facing food insecurity.
    • Union County Health Department: Support for the Blessings in a Backpack 5K event, helping raise awareness and funds for hunger relief.
    • Blessings in a Backpack: A donation provided crucial provisions for local children who rely on this program for weekend meals.
    • Impact Station: A donation was made to help provide breakfast and lunch items to those experiencing food insecurity in the community.

    Volunteers and Community Spirit

None of this would have been possible without the tireless efforts of the hundreds of volunteers who dedicated their time since April 2024. From creating the bowls to preparing the food, auctioning items, and assisting on the event day, the volunteers demonstrated the true spirit of community service. Their hard work and dedication have left an indelible mark on the success of the event and the lives of those who benefit from it.

As we look back on the success of this year's Empty Bowls project, it's clear that this event is more than just a fundraiser—it's a testament to the power of community collaboration. Together, we've made a tangible difference in the fight against hunger, and the impact will continue to resonate in the lives of those who rely on these vital programs.
